COMPUDON JUNIOR Official Rules

BINDING AGREEMENT

PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES.

In order to participate in the COMPUDON Junior Championship (the “Championship”), you must agree to these Rules. Therefore, please read these Rules prior to participating to ensure you understand and agree. You agree that participating in the Championship constitute your agreement to these Rules. You may not participate in the Championship and are not eligible to receive any prize described in these Rules unless you agree to these Rules. These Rules form a binding legal agreement between you and Organizer with respect to the Championship.

CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to participate in the Championship, you must: (1) have taken a qualifying COMPUDON Junior (Leve1 ) exam between July 15, 2024 and July 30, 2024; (2) be at least 8 years or older as on August 15, 2024; (3) be 14 or under 14 years as on August 15, 2024; (4) you must have the permission from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to participate in the Championship and (5) must be enrolled in an approved academic institution.

CHAMPIONSHIP PERIOD

Please check the home page for the important dates of the championship.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP

It is preferred that students participate in the championship through their schools. In special cases, where School is not participating but an otherwise eligible student(s) want to participate then they can do so individually. However, their participation is subject to written confirmation by the Organizer.

There will be two rounds in the championship

  • 1st Round –students will take a qualifying exam within the School.
  • 2nd Round will be India/National Finals Round –Top 400 qualifying students will be invited to India Finals.

Entrants will be required to test in English language only. No other language is available.

During the Qualifying Round/ Level 1, eligible entrants will take the eligible COMPUDON Junior exam based on objectives of the Season IV. The objectives are given on the home page under Objectives tab, however, Organizer reserves the right to alter the curricula/objectives for this championship without prior information.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

The qualification criteria to go to India Finals of the championship is highest score in the Level 1/ Qualifying Round. In the event of a tie, the entrant that completed the applicable exam in the shortest amount of time (as determined by Organizer, in its sole discretion) will be shortlisted as the qualifying candidate for the India Finals.

Candidates must complete Qualifying Exam/ Level 1 exam within the pre-defined time limit. The time limit for students of age 8 to 10 is 30 minutes and for students above 10 years of age is 45 minutes. After the expiry of the assigned time, the system will automatically submit the exam.  Exams are void if they are in whole or part incomplete, altered, counterfeit, obtained through fraud, or late.

WINNER DETERMINATION

At the conclusion of the Championship Period, the one (1) exam that receives the highest score will be deemed a potential First Prize winner/Gold Medalist/ India Champion.

The one (1) exam that receives the next highest score in the exam will be deemed a potential Second Prize Winner/ 1st Runner Up / Silver Medalist. The one (1) exam that receives the next highest score in the exam will be deemed a potential Third Prize Winner / 2nd Runner Up/ Bronze Medalist. Similarly, there will be Regional Winners in each of the 6 regions.

In the event of a tie for any or all of the above positions, the entrant that completed the applicable exam in the shortest amount of time (as determined by the Organizer, in its sole discretion) will be identified as the potential winner. In the event a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, the candidate with the next highest total score and least time taken will be chosen as the potential winner.

WINNER NOTIFICATION: On the day & date given on home page, the winners will be announced. Winners or respective teacher in charge of the winner’s school will be notified by phone/SMS at the number provided during final exams.
Except where prohibited by law, each potential winner / Parents/ Legal Guardian may be required to sign and return a Declaration of Eligibility and provide any additional information that may be required / requested by Organizer.

All notification requirements, as well as other requirements within these Rules will be strictly enforced. In the event that no exams are received in any region, no prize will be awarded. Determinations of Organizer are final and binding.

PRIZE CONDITIONS

No transfer, substitution or cash equivalent for prizes is allowed. Championship Entities have not made and Championship Entities are not responsible in any manner for any warranties, representations, or guarantees, express or implied, in fact or law, relating to the prize, regarding the use, value or enjoyment of the prize.

TAXES

RECEIPT OF PRIZES BY POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO THE EXPRESS REQUIREMENT THAT IF REQUIRED, THEY WILL SUBMIT TO ORGANIZER ALL DOCUMENTATION REQUESTED BY ORGANIZER TO PERMIT IT TO COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE TAX LAWS AND WITHHOLDING REQUIREMENTS. ALL PRIZES WILL BE NET OF ANY TAXES IF REQUIRED BY LAW TO WITHHOLD. ALL TAXES IMPOSED ON PRIZES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNERS.

In order to receive a prize, potential winners may be required to submit the tax documentation requested by Organizer or otherwise required by applicable law, to Organizer or the relevant tax authority, all as determined by applicable law, including, where relevant. The Parents/ Legal Guardians of the potential winners are responsible for ensuring that he/she complies with all the applicable tax laws and filing requirements.

If a potential winner fails to provide such documentation or comply with such laws, the prize may be forfeited and Organizer may, in its sole discretion, select an alternative potential winner.

THE ORGANIZERS RESERVE THE UNQUESTIONABLE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY OR REJECT ANY ENTRY THAT DOES NOT MEET THE ABOVE CRITERIA. THE DECISION OF THE ORGANIZERS SHALL BE FINAL IN THIS REGARD. IF A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF ENTRIES MEETING THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT RECEIVED/ AVAILABLE, ORGANIZERS MAY, AT THEIR SOLE DISCRETION & WITHOUT ANY OBLIGATION TO ANYONE WHATSOEVER, SELECT FEWER THAN THE DESIGNATED NUMBER OF WINNERS. THE DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES WILL BE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

All applicable local laws and regulations apply. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant from the Championship if, in the Organizer’s sole discretion, it reasonably believes that the participant has attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the Championship by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or annoys, abuses, threatens or harasses any other participants, viewers, Organizer, or the Judges.

To ensure wider participation, ORGANIZER reserves an absolute and unquestionable right to restrict the number of students who qualify for India Finals per School. NO inquiries or petitions in this regard will be entertained. The odds of winning the championship will depend on the number of eligible entries received and the level of skill of each participant.

Considering the age group of participants, the venue for India Finals and award ceremony will be virtual/ online. Foreign students, who are enrolled in an accredited academic institution in India, are eligible to participate and they will represent the School and their state in India where they are studying and not their country of citizenship.

If the India Championship is cancelled for any reason, the ORGANIZER shall have no obligation to the participants.

PRIVACY

Participant/ Parent(s)/ Legal Guardian(s) acknowledge and agree that Organizer may collect, store, share and otherwise use any personally identifiable information provided to Organizer throughout the Championship, including but not limited to, name, photos, mailing address, date of birth, email address, and any financial information collected for administering the Championship, to facilitate awarding any applicable prize, and verifying a participant’s identity, postal address and email address in the event a participant qualifies for a prize.

Participant has the right to request access, review, get rectification or deletion of any personal data held by Organizer in connection with the Championship by writing to Organizer at this email address;  support@compudonjunior.in

PUBLICITY

By participating, participant agrees to Organizer and its agencies use of his or her name and/or likeness and photo (if applicable) for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. Since the championship awards will be announced virtually and awards, trophies, medals etc will be sent to the School and not to individual participant

WARRANTY AND INDEMNITY

To the maximum extent permitted by law, each participant & Parent(s) of each Participant indemnifies and agrees to keep indemnified Championship Entities at all times from and against any liability, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs and expenses resulting from any act, default or omission by the Organizer and/or a breach of any warranty set forth herein.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, each participant agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Championship Entities from and against any and all claims, actions, suits or proceedings, as well as any and all losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of or accruing from (a) any exam or other material uploaded or otherwise provided by the participant that infringes any copyright, trademark, trade secret, trade dress, patent or other intellectual property right of any person or defames any person or violates their rights of publicity or privacy, (b) any misrepresentation made by the participant in connection with the Championship; (c) any non-compliance by the participant with these Rules; (d) claims brought by persons or entities other than the parties to these Rules arising from or related to the participant’s involvement with the Championship; (e) acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in any Championship-related activity or participation in this Championship; (f) any malfunction or other problem with the Championship Site; (g) any error in the collection, processing, or retention of exam information; or (h) any typographical or other error in the printing, offering or announcement of any prize or winners.

INTERNET

Any false information provided within the context of the Championship by any participant concerning identity, mailing address, telephone number, email address, ownership of right or non-compliance with these Rules or the like may result in the immediate elimination of the participant from the Championship.

RIGHT TO CANCEL, MODIFY OR DISQUALIFY

If for any reason the Championship is not capable of being run as planned, including, without limitation, due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Championship, Organizer reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Championship and if terminated, Organizer will determine the potential winners for the Championship from among all eligible exams received prior to action taken using the judging criteria specified above OR may decide on the basis of a personal interview of the candidates. Organizer further reserves the right to disqualify any participant who tampers with the submission process or any other part of the Championship or Championship Site. Any attempt by a participant to deliberately damage any web site, including the Championship Site, or undermine the legitimate operation of the Championship is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Organizer reserve the right to seek any and all remedies available from any such participant to the fullest extent of the applicable law.

NOT AN OFFER OR CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT

Under no circumstances shall the submission of an exam into the Championship, the awarding of a prize, or anything in these Rules be construed as an offer or contract of employment with the Organizer, or the Championship Entities. You acknowledge that you have submitted your exam voluntarily and not in confidence or in trust. You acknowledge that no confidential, fiduciary, agency or other relationship or implied-in-fact contract now exists between you and Organizer or the Championship Entities and that no such relationship is established by your submission of an exam under these Rules.

FORUM AND RECOURSE TO JUDICIAL PROCEDURES

These Rules shall be governed by, subject to, and construed in accordance with the laws of India excluding all conflict of law rules. If any provision(s) of these Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect. To the extent permitted by law, the rights to litigate, seek injunctive relief or make any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this Championship are hereby excluded, and all Participants expressly waive any and all such rights.

ARBITRATION

By entering the Championship, you agree that exclusive jurisdiction for any dispute, claim, or demand related in any way to the Championship will be decided by binding arbitration. All disputes between you and Organizer of whatsoever kind or nature arising out of these Rules shall be submitted before one arbitrator to be mutually agreed upon by both parties. The parties agree to share equally in the arbitration costs incurred. The seat of Arbitration will be in New Delhi.

The courts in New Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

ORGANIZERS reserve an unconditional right to alter, amend, change and modify any and all the Rules and Regulations without prior notice. Such modifications, if any, will be uploaded on the championship website and will be binding on all participants.
